About us

Klub De 8 is a Non-governmental, non-partisan confraternity of Kunav Elite with the primary objectives to foster unity, love and progress as well as promote enduring peace that will enhance the development of the Society. The assembly was founded in August 2002 to help coordinate, nurture and ultimately fast track unity and development of Kunav Nation in particular and Nigeria as a whole. Membership of the association comprise of diverse professionals of Kunav ancestry.

The Association operates based on the understanding that, personal advancement of Kunav sons and daughters as well as the sustainable development of Kunav nation could be achieved more effectively through consistent personal networking. With a Headquarters in Makurdi, members are spread across various towns within and outside Nigeria. The club is also duly registered with the Benue State Ministry of Youth and Social Development as well as the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC of Nigeria.

Klub De 8 has a pool of qualified manpower cutting across all fields of human endeavors. In our ranks are Engineers, Architects, Surveyors, Lawyers, Medical Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, Academics, Accountants, Technologists and the likes. Members are placed in various government departments and private ventures within and outside Nigeria.
All activities of Klub De 8 are done with the full participation of traditional rulers led by Tor Jechira, HRH Clement K. Uganden and Ter Kunav II, Nyiyongo Achiaku with the full compliments of the Mue Ter Ikyan and Tiev as well as the dictrict and kindred heads. There is also fruitful partnership with Kunav United Development Association, KUDA as well as other organizations with shared goals.

Activities

Educational Support Programme with three components such as:

• An annual scholarship scheme in which selected undergraduates of Kunav origin are supported with the sum of fifty thousand naira (N50,000.00) each per annum to cover the duration of their courses. In essence, students undertaking five-year courses are paid a total of two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N250,000) each for the duration of the course while the sum of two hundred thousand Naira (N200,000) is paid to beneficiaries on four-year courses.
• Production and distribution of branded exercise books to public primary schools in Vandeikya LGA. This is done yearly and on a rotational basis among the 8 clans of Kunavland.
• The club also uses the wide network of her members to provide guidance and assist candidates of Kunav extraction to secure admissions in institutions of higher learning.

Medical outreach programme:

This is another area of intervention by our Association which started in 2014 and has become a regular component of the annual end-of-year festivities. The Club procures drugs and other medical kits while Club members who are medical personnel offer free medical services to members of the public. To ensure the success of the medical outreach, Klub De 8 partner with organizations such as APIN – Public Health Initiatives, Association of Benue Medical Women and Kunav Family at Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi.

Skills aquisation programme:

Though this was the earliest intervention planned by our Association, it has continued to suffer non-implementation. The piece of land that was procured in Vandeikya town for a vocational centre to train the youth in various trades was later found to be encumbered and efforts to get a replacement have not yielded results. This matter has been tabled before the Local Government Council for attention and it is hoped that an alternative land will be secured for the project as soon as possible.

Job Placements:

The Club is actively involved in identifying job opportunities and securing placements for people of Kunav extraction. This is an active and important activity of the club and where the diverse network of members plays a significant role in the lobbying efforts that are necessary to achieve this task.
